Picks for the 2016 Zurich Classic of New Orleans #ZurichClassic #FantasyGolf

Hot Fantasy Golf Picks from Around the Internet

Jason Day: The world No. 1? No surprises with that pick. Day has only one finished outside the top 25 in the 2015/16 season. With two trophies to his case this season and has a great chance to pick up a third on a course where he finished fourth last year.

PGA TOUR

Justin Rose: Rose, blow the field away last year in the Big Easy with his awesome final 66 holes without a bogey. Rose hasn’t fallen outside the top 20 in a stroke-play event since Torrey Pines, including a T-10 finish at the Masters, and has finished T-15 or better each of the last four years at TPC Louisiana.

Daniel Berger: The reigning Rookie of the Year finished T-6 at TPC Louisiana last year a course that should perfectly suit his game. In addition, he arrives with top-10 finishes in each of his last two events.

Rickie Fowler: Fowler after missed the cut in 2015 and 14, Fowler remains a threat as he has four top-10 finishes in his last six starts dating back to a playoff loss in Phoenix. Rickie finds the magic out of the blue, so if he didn’t have too much fun on his bro trip to the Bahamas with fellow PGA Tour stars Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Smylie Kaufman, the Sunday orange is a smart pick for any fantasy team.

Billy Horschel: Horschel is the 2013 champion. Billy, the guy who is always supportive of his compactors on tour, landed T-4 last week at Valero, T-17 at the Masters, and it looks to have adjusted to his new equipment.

Chris Kirk: Chris rehabbing from a hand injury late last season has found “it” with top-25 finishes in four of his last five starts, including a T-13 finish last week in San Antonio. The last time Kirk played the Zurich, he finished T-21.

Charley Hoffman: Charley comes to Louisiana making up for lost opportunities, packing four top-20 finishes in seven starts underlined by a dramatic triumph at TPC San Antonio. Hoffman in 2014, his most recent appearance, he finished T-5.

Patton Kizzire: The current Web.com Tour Player of the Year went to school at Auburn, so Kizzire knows all about playing golf on the Gulf Coast. He ranks eighth in strokes gained putting and has a T-9 finish at the WGC-Match Play and a T-14 finish in HIlton Head.

Smylie Kaufman: The former LSU star will have a hearty rooting section this week on the bayou, and he knows how to deal with Southern Louisiana heat and humidity.  Smylie has proven his worth as a tour pro with his win in Las Vegas and his play at the Masters. Therefore, if he didn’t burn out hanging with the boys in the Caribbean you could be smiling with a win in your fantasy golf league.

David Hearn: The Canadian has had three top-25 finishes in six starts, with his T-6 finish in 2015. Hearn finished T-13 last week in San Antonio.

Sleeper Picks

Erik Compton – He’s finished T5 and T12 in the last two years in New Orleans with a scoring average of 68.25.

Scott Stallings – Stallings missed three consecutive cuts until finishing T13 in the Alamo City last week. He was in the top 25 last year at the TPC La.

Troy Merritt – Finished third in his debut here as a rookie in 2010. On the heels of his first PGA TOUR win at the 2015 Quicken Loans National, Merritt is primed and ready for big things. Currently 28th in strokes gained: putting, first in three-putt avoidance, and is 84th in the FedExCup standings posting four top 25s, including a T3 at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill.

Blayne Barber – Only 43 starts into his PGA TOUR career, he has landed seven top 25s, with 7 being top 10s. One of his top 10s as a rookie was at TPC Louisiana in 2015.

Whee Kim – The 23-year-old finished T6 at Harbour Town where he ranked second in strokes gained putting and he ranked ninth in strokes gained: putting for the week. Last year at the TPC Louisiana, Kim capped off a T8 with a 64, lowest in the field in the final round.
