John Daily’s PGA Winning Driver $17,300.40

John Daly ‘gripped it and ripped it’ long and straight at Crooked Stick Golf Club years before it was the PGA TOUR norm.

The Cobra driver Daly, as a 9th alternate, used to shock the golf world winning the 1991 PGA Championship was recently sold at auction, fetching a whopping $17,300.40. The club also featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated was offered by Green Jacket Auctions. Bidding started at $1000 and end with 31 bids.

The unusual driver is a Cobra composite Kevlar head with a 42½” titanium shaft. After the victory, Daly gave the driver to Crooked Stick Golf Club designer Pete Dye, who passed it an associate, who use the driver for over a year after Daly’s victory.
