Press Release: USGA, U.S. Women’s Open

U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open Credentialing Opens Today

LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. (March 30, 2018) Online applications for media credentials for the 2018 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships will open on Friday, March 30 at 11 a.m. EDT.

Use the following link to apply:

The U.S. Open will be played at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.; the U.S. Women’s Open will be played at Shoal Creek in Shoal Creek, Ala. The deadline to apply for media credentials for the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open is May 14. No applications will be considered after these dates.

Please Note: The U.S. Open application has been updated for 2018. Registration for credentials is a two-step process. Media organizations must register for an account on the first page. A link to the second step of the application will be sent via email. To be considered for a credential, organizations must complete both steps of the process.

USGA Communications will review each request and respond via email as applications are approved or denied. All applications must be completed by the appropriate assignment editor, sports editor, director, producer or similar position. If you are not the assignment editor, please forward this to the appropriate person.

The USGA will accept only one application per media outlet. The application must be submitted for the entire roster of staff, so please coordinate coverage accordingly. For example, television stations should include the sports and news departments on one application.

Per USGA policy, freelance media are not eligible for credentials. Media requesting credentials must be assigned representatives of a recognized news and/or sports outlet.

Hotel information for the U.S. Open will be included in the application. Applicants are encouraged to respond quickly as the number of rooms is limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. When an application is approved, an additional email will be sent with details regarding hotel accommodations.

The USGA strives to provide media with the best working environment possible. Regulations contained in the application reflect this commitment, so please be sure to read all of the information provided.

Credentialing for the remaining 2018 USGA championships will open in the coming weeks.
