New TFi 2135 Satin Putters from Cleveland Golf Provide Total Speed Control and Perfect Alignment

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Aug. 28, 2017 — CLEVELAND GOLF® unveils new alignment and speed control technologies in the updated TFi® 2135 Satin putter models. Featuring a new tour satin color scheme, high-contrast alignment lines and a customized milling pattern on each of the five head shapes, the new putters are available for presale Aug. 28, 2017 and officially launch Sept. 15, 2017.

Since its founding in 1979, Cleveland Golf’s innovative putter designs have pushed the limits of technology, look, and feel. The new TFi 2135 Satin putters continue this tradition, with putter advancements designed to improve alignment, soft feel, and speed control.

Speed Optimized Milling on the TFi 2135 Satin putters adjusts energy transference so that every putt rolls to the same distance regardless of where it is struck on the face. Because MOI varies across models, the amount of ball speed correction has been individually customized to each of the five shapes, ensuring every model employs the precise level of speed correction required for consistent distance control.

“Traditional putters come up short when you hit the ball even just a bit toward the heel or toe,” said Jeff Brunski, Director of Research and Development at Cleveland Golf. “We lowered ball speed on center strikes and added ball speed on off-center strikes to produce uniform distance no matter where you strike the ball.”

“The exact magnitude of these changes varies slightly based on the shape and weighting of the putter model. So we’ve actually produced a different face for every model within the family to make sure each one provides perfect distance control.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The 2135 Alignment Technology used on each TFi 2135 Satin putter provides perfect alignment on every putt. With sightlines raised 21.35 millimeters off the ground—the exact radius of a golf ball—the technology delivers accurate alignment feedback regardless of address position. The new putters improve upon previous generations of 2135 Alignment Technology with 50 percent higher contrast sightlines that make precise alignment even easier.

The putters’ multi-material head construction uses True Feel Innovation®: a Polymer TPU face insert that dampens vibrations and enhances feel. Paired with face milling that’s three times deeper than previous models, the new TFi 2135 Satin putters strike the ball with exceptionally soft feel.

Key Innovations Inside TFi 2135 Satin Putters:

  • High Contrast 2135 Alignment Technology raises the sightline to the exact center of the golf ball, providing accurate alignment regardless of eye position at address.
  • True Feel Innovation uses multi-material construction to produce extremely soft feel.
  • Speed Optimized Milling provides perfect distance control by adding speed on off-center hits.

The TFi 2135 Satin standard models are 1.0, Rho, Elevado and Cero; the counterbalanced models are 8.0 and Elevado CB. Standard heads with the midsized pistol grip are $149.99 MAP. Standard heads with oversized grips are $159.99 MAP. Counterbalanced models are $179.99 MAP.

HIDEKI MATSUYAMA TAKES FEDEXCUP POINTS LEAD WITH SRIXON Z-STAR XV GOLF BALL, WINS WORLD GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS-BRIDGESTONE INVITATIONAL

tour-validated performance of his Srixon and Cleveland Golf equipment, Hideki Matsuyama dominated the world’s best again with a five-shot victory in the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The fifth career PGA TOUR victory for Matsuyama was sealed with a brilliant final-round 61, tying the historic venue’s course-record.

Entering the final-round two shots back of the leaders, Matsuyama, the 25-year-old native of Japan, birdied the sixth-hole to take the outright lead and never looked back. In fact, with the victory clearly within his grasps, he stood on the 16th tee wanting more—a course record.

“I knew standing on the 16th tee that the course-record was 61 and if I birdied the last three, I would tie it”, Matsuyama said. “So that’s what I wanted to do.”

Besides the $1,660,000 first-place check, Matsuyama’s third victory of the season vaults him back into the top spot on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup points list. This win also marks the second time this season Matsuyama has won impressively in a World Golf Championships event. Early this season, Matsuyama won the WGC-HSBC by a record-breaking seven shots.

Matsuyama’s Z-STAR XV golf ball has helped him become one of the most dominant ball strikers on the PGA TOUR. At the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Matsuyama was T1 in Greens in Regulation (54/72), first in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (14.93) and Around the Greens (5.82), and first in birdies (23).

In Hideki Matsuyama’s Bag:

  • Srixon Z-STAR XV golf ball
  • Srixon Z 945 irons (4-PW) with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts

Cleveland Golf Announces the Cleveland CBX Wedge, a New Category of Wedge for Golfers Who Play Cavity Back Irons

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — July 31, 2017 — CLEVELAND GOLF® establishes a new category of wedges with the announcement of the Cleveland CBX Wedge, a cavity back wedge designed for the 84% of golfers who play cavity back irons*. Cleveland CBX Wedges will launch in North America on Sept. 15, 2017.

Cleveland Golf is a trailblazer of wedge design, continually innovating short game technologies since 1979. Their latest wedge offering, the Cleveland CBX Wedge, is a new take on traditional wedge philosophy aimed at the segment of golfers who play forgiving cavity back irons.

The Cleveland CBX is built to be more forgiving and easier to hit than tour-designed wedges while providing dramatically more spin and versatility than set-matching wedges. This totally new wedge design—modeled to complement the address profile and swing weight of the most popular cavity back irons—is designed to look, feel, and play like the game improvement irons used by 84% of the golf market.

With Cleveland Golf’s RTX-3 wedges designed for skilled players, and their Smart Sole 3 wedges created for golfers who want maximum forgiveness, the Cleveland CBX is positioned as a forgiving yet versatile wedge that caters to the needs of the majority of golfers.

John Rae, Vice President of Research and Development at Cleveland Golf, explained how the new Cleveland CBX fits into the existing wedge market: “Wedges that match iron sets have next to no spin technology and sole designs that are ill equipped for the demands of the short game. Tour wedges are versatile and spin the ball but are significantly heavier and lack the forgiveness features that most golfers are used to in their irons. The Cleveland CBX combines the spin and versatility of our tour wedges with a cavity back design so golfers get plenty of control and forgiveness.”

Key Innovations Inside Cleveland CBX:

  • A Cavity Back Wedge Design offers more forgiveness and blends with the look, feel and weight of cavity back iron sets.
  • A Rotex Face, the most advanced wedge spin technology ever made, helps the CBX produce spin just like a tour-designed wedge.
  • A Dual-V Sole Grind offers forgiving turf interaction, delivers extra assistance on bunker shots, and provides versatility when executing different short game shots.
  • Feel Balancing Technology repositions the center of gravity for better feel and distance control.

Cleveland CBX is offered in left and right handed options with Men’s steel and graphite shafts and Women’s graphite shafts. The wedges are available in 46 through 60 degree loft, each with the new Dual V Sole Grind. Men’s steel and Women’s are priced at $129.99 MAP; Men’s graphite is priced at $139.99 MAP.

Matsuyama for his record-breaking playoff victory over the weekend at the PGA TOUR Waste Management Phoenix Open in Arizona. Matsuyama sank a birdie putt on the par-4 17th hole, the fourth extra hole, to clinch a sudden-death win at TPC Scottsdale for the second-consecutive year – this coming after he posted a bogey-free, 5-under-par 66 in the final round to finish regulation at 17-under par. The 24-year-old Matsuyama took the best that the competition, his own nerves, and the largest, loudest crowd on the PGA TOUR could offer him, and he overcame it all to capture his fifth win in his last nine global starts.

“It’s been a good run. I’m going to ride it as long as I can,” said Matsuyama. “The results have been really good these last few months, and hopefully we can just keep it going.”

On every shot, Matsuyama trusted the exceptional distance and tour-validated performance of the new, fifth-generation Srixon Z-STAR XV golf ball. Featuring a redesigned Dual Energetic Gradient Growth core with a larger, softer inner core, the Z-STAR XV generates consistently high ball speed on full shots and enhances greenside spin control with the new Spin Skin coating. Matsuyama, who uses a set of new Srixon Z 965 irons (4-PW), led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach to the Green (8.42) and also finished tied for second in Greens in Regulation (58/72, 80.56%).

With this victory, Matsuyama, who stands No. 5 in the Official World Golf Rankings, takes home a $1,206,000 winner’s check and moves back into first place in the PGA TOUR FedEx Cup points standings. Now with four career official TOUR titles (three coming via playoff, a format in which he is undefeated) he holds more all-time wins on the circuit than any other native of Japan and is also the first Japanese player to ever successfully defend a PGA TOUR championship.
