Driving Distance Leader on PGA TOUR Champions Continues to Excel with Golf’s Only Vertical Groove Driver;

Vertical Groove Driver is Now Available in Denmark & Several Countries Throughout Europe

Boston, MA, August 23, 2017 – The cutting-edge Vertical Groove Driver, which has already captured two victories this season on the PGA TOUR Champions – including a Major Championship – will be played by two-time major champion, John Daly, in the European TOUR’s upcoming, Made in Denmark Open, August 24-27.

With John Daly leading the way, the Vertical Groove Driver is currently ranked #1 and #2 in driving distance on the PGA TOUR Champions.  Now, on the heels of competing in the 146th Open Championship, followed by the Senior Open Championship, the Made in Denmark Open marks the 3rd European TOUR property where Daly will tee-it-up with the Vertical Groove Driver.

“Backed by two prominent victories, and with the Vertical Groove Driver currently ranked #1 and #2 in driving distance on the PGA TOUR Champions, we are seeing a spike in players using the driver on the US-based professional tours,” said Rubin Hanan, COO/Managing Partner, Vertical Groove Golf. “With John Daly competing in another European TOUR event, and with distribution agreements in place throughout Europe, we are excited to showcase the innovative new driver to an expanded global audience of professionals and amateurs.”

Through an international distribution agreement with Slaisman ltd, the Vertical Groove Driver is currently available for golfers in Scandinavian countries, including Denmark, host of the Made in Denmark Open.  Additionally, through an agreement with Anemoi Sport the innovative driver is available throughout the UK and several European countries.

The Vertical Groove Driver, which conforms to the Rules of Golf, is designed to reduce spin at impact, forcing tighter dispersion and leading to, on average, up to 40% straighter ball flight and up to 10 yards further in driving distance.

The 450cc driver, which is available in both right and left handed models, is offered in 8, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts (right) and 9.5 and 10.5 degree lofts (left), features a full range of Aldila premium grade, tour-proven aftermarket NV2K series shafts as standard.  The available flexes include: 45 gram L (Ladies), 50 gram A (Senior), 55 gram R (Regular), 65 gram S (Stiff) and 65 gram X (Extra-stiff).   At a length of 45.5 inches, the Vertical Groove Driver provides an optimum launch angle while maximizing carry distance and ball speed for many players. It is equipped with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips in standard, midsize and oversize models.  Alternative shaft options from Fujikura, Mitsubishi and Aldila also will be available. Suggested retail price of the Vertical Groove Driver is $399.99.

More information on the Vertical Groove Driver is available at or via social media profiles on Facebook and YouTube at Vertical Groove Golf, and @vertgolf on Twitter.

Fifty ain’t so Bad #JohnDaly @LoudmouthGolf

I followed John Daly on his first round on the PGA Champions Tour at the 2016 Insperity Invitational and as was expected his out drive his playing partners, Peter Jacobsen and Fuzzy Zoeller on every driving hole. Zoeller’s green “Get Fuzzed Up” paints were the only thing to reviled JD’s Atom Smasher golf pants from Loudmouth Golf.

As Daly “Grips and Rips” his way to the Senior PGA Championship at the Harbor Shores, Benton Harbor, Michigan he  will be paired with Bernhard Langer and Mark Calcavecchia in the first major of this new chapter in the John Daly book.

Champions Tour

That Taylor Made one iron and his caddie/ fiancé seem to be keeping Mr. Daly out of the rough these days. After hitting the big 5-0, JD had been under par for 5 out of 7 rounds and 0 golf clubs in Great Lakes.

I wish John Daly the best of luck in his quest to add another major win to his resume.

Daly Makes his Champions Tour Debut @PGA_JohnDaly

Driving through The Woodlands, Texas over the weekend I saw a billboard picturing John Daly in his signature follow through. The sign read “Long John” and advertised the Insperity Invitational played at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course.John Daly Swing

With Daly playing I have to go, it’s only a two hour drive from my house, and I started playing golf only a year before JD won his first major.

I’ve watch Daly’s ups and downs, as I too had my own, over the years cheering and sometimes jeering but always a fan of the “Lion.” John Daly and I where both born in 1966, we both had mullets in the early 1990s, and we both seem to get into a lot less trouble now a days then we did back when. I look forward to watching John Daly move into the next chapter in the pro golfer life, without having to deal with the “Exes with Rolexes” and win a few tournaments on the Champions Tour.

Champions Tour

The two-time major championship winner turns 50 on April 28, and will make his PGA TOUR Champions Tour debut at the Insperity Invitational in The Woodlands, Texas on the week of May 2-8, 2016. In addition to Insperity, Daly has committed to the Regions Tradition, the Principal Charity Classic, and the inaugural American Family Insurance Championship in June. TheGolfBallGuy will be watch Mr. Daly’s PGA TOUR Champions career just like always.

“Q&A with John Daly”

PGATOUR.COM How long have you been looking at playing on PGA TOUR Champions?

DALY: “I really started looking hard at it last year. And now I’m going to play as many events as I can. I want to see all the golf courses that we’re playing. It’s going to be a full-time schedule for me for most of this year. I’m still going to play the PGA Championship and the British. I’m still competitive and I still like going to Europe. They love having me and I love being there. The PGA TOUR Champions is going to give me that competitive edge that will help me keep on playing and have a schedule to know when I’m in and when I’m not in.”

PGATOUR.COM: How’s your game?

DALY: “It’s not good. I’m working on everything. My driving is really, really good. It’s just that my putting really isn’t where I want it to be. My wedges aren’t really dialed in right now. This has been a crazy seven years. Just not being able to play as much as I want to, not being able to get into many tournaments. You’re just kind of sitting back and feeling like I’m semi-retired. So I’m going to have really work my butt off to get it back. I’m going to go back for two weeks to Arkansas and I have my course there and I’ll work on it there and hopefully come out strong. It’s going to probably take me four, five or six events to get it going. Not playing tournament golf, no matter how much you practice, it’s just a different league when you get out there competitively. But I love The Woodlands. I had some great success there and hopefully I can feed off of that.”

Love him or not, Daly has had a “Hall of Fame” career.
