TaylorMade Golf and Sergio Garcia Split Up

TaylorMade Golf announced on Monday that it has “mutually agreed” to release this year’s Masters Champion, Sergio Garcia, from the remaining years of his contract. A statement released by the company says, “Today, after a memorable 15-year partnership with Sergio Garcia, we have mutually agreed to a release from the remaining years of his TaylorMade contract,” the statement read. “It has been an honor to play a role in his performance throughout his career, including The Players Championship, 19 worldwide wins, Ryder Cup heroics and his 2017 Masters win. We congratulate Sergio on a career year and wish him all the best for the future.”

After leaving Titleist to join TaylorMade in 2003, the Spaniard has won 19 times internationally including the Players as well as this year’s Masters.

A spokesman for Adidas Golf told Golfweek that it looks forward to continuing its relationship with Garcia.

Speculation fueled by Garcia’s recent use of an Odyssey Toulon Design putter and Callaway wedges he is possibly going to sign with Callaway. Callaway was a good move for Phil Mickelson soon after his first major win. As a bonus for Sergio, Tiger Woods isn’t there…
